Mr. Jack Nickerson - Head of School

Welcome from Jack Nickerson - Head of School

I would like to extend a warm welcome to you as you visit the Good Samaritan School (GSS) Website. GSS has been providing an outstanding education, focused on the development of children's minds, bodies, and spirits, for over seventeen years.

Since our school’s founding in 1993, GSS has grown considerably. Our first class of children ranged in age from 2 - 5 years old and classes met Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 9:00 to 11:30 AM. The enrollment was 45 students. Beginning in the Fall of 2007, GSS became a full service Preschool and Elementary School which now serves children from age 2 ½ to fourth grade with an average enrollment of 100 students in eight classes. In the fall of 2011, we will expand our program to 5th graders as we continually look for new opportunities to grow and serve our community. Our commitment to small classes and a family atmosphere remain the same.

Childhood is a magical time and our first priority at GSS is to keep that magic alive. Our school is a special place where children get to do special things and feel safe. The classroom pace is calm, exciting, and peaceful. We pay special attention to providing the perfect balance between fun and academics.

The GSS staff a spends a lot of time getting to know each child as an individual keeping track of their unique strengths and needs to plan activities that challenge daily. They work hard to enable the children to discover what is finest in themselves and to achieve and maintain high standards in their studies, character, and play. The goal is to have the children reach their full potential.

Our mission at GSS to nurture the children’s spiritual, moral, intellectual, physical, and social development and affirm them as God’s unique creation speaks to three things that are critical to the operation of the school:

◊ First, we believe in an education of the whole child. Our curricula are designed to offer intellectual, physical, and spiritual stimulation for your child.

◊ Second, we are committed to individual attention. We maintain small class sizes to ensure that your child gets the personal attention he or she needs to excel.

◊ Third, we provide a Christian environment that is deeply respectful of a student population from all Christian backgrounds and other faith traditions.

I hope that you spend some time exploring our Web site, and encourage you to visit our campus to personally experience the care and excitement of our school family. Come walk through our halls and observe the creativity, discovery, happiness and cooperation as you go. You will see that what makes GSS such a great school is our commitment to educating the whole child.
